Ar Icon Contact.svg Requesting oversight

If you require oversighter assistance on Commons, please e-mail oversight-commons@lists.wikimedia.org with the diff links or page history links for information that should be suppressed and the reasoning behind your request.

You can also send an e-mail to one of the users in the oversight user group.

Oversight is the term used to describe the removal of certain information from public view. Such information includes, but is not limited to, non-public personal information, potentially libellous information, blatant attack names, and copyright violations.

Oversight actions can be performed by users with the suppressrevision user right — currently 4 local Commons oversighters and a small number of Wikimedia Foundation employees. Oversight actions are covered by the global oversight policy, and their contents are protected under the privacy policy.

The name oversight itself is derived from the Oversight extension, now deprecated in favour of the revision deletion feature available directly in the MediaWiki software.
