Greetings, everyone. I'd like to introduce myself as a nominee for adminship. My primary goal is to focus on antivandalism efforts and mitigating copyright concerns within the Wiki Loves X project. I have extensive experience organizing photo-contests in various countries throughout the MENA region. I am Filemover and Campaign Editor. Having been a part of the Wikimedia movement since 2010, I possess a deep understanding of the community's values. I'm also proficient in working with admin tools and have previously created MediaWiki Sites. In addition, I was a temporary Syspo on Wiktionary in Shy. Furthermore, in my spare time, I review photos from the MENA region to identify any instances of copyvio, which you can check in my contributions. I've obtained over 240 QI, and even though it's not a considerable number, it brings me great joy to share this accomplishment with you. Lastly, I'm well-versed in Commons' tools and policies.

Native speaker of (arq), (shy), and (ru), I also have a proficient level of (fr), (ar), and (en). Please do not hesitate to ask if you require any further information. Thank you for taking part. Reda Kerbouche (talk) 13:11, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

For transparency: I have posted on Facebook and Telegram today to vote for or against me on this page.--Reda Kerbouche (talk) 08:44, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Symbol oppose vote.svg Oppose - Effectively no substantive participation in admin areas, and dubious knowledge of copyright and/or attention to detail (for example, File:Lamp from Timgad in British museum 1973,0114.1.jpg and File:Stamp of a lamp in British museum 1973,0114.1.jpg are purported by Reda Kerbouche to be cc-by-sa 4.0, but are actually cc-by-nc-sa 4.0). This was a self-nomination, so the timing of the request was not a surprise, and Reda Kerbouche has been active on other projects, so the failure to have yet answered my question below is unacceptable. A candidate desiring "to focus on [...] mitigating copyright concerns" should have obvious and readily-available examples of activity and competence in such areas. I answered your questions, your questions make me checking in my background that's way it take some times. Regarding this 2 fils that you mentioned it's my fault I haven't paid attention I will nominate this to delete Reda Kerbouche (talk) 06:17, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Symbol oppose vote.svg Oppose in my opinion, any activity in Commons needs more participation and longer time engagement than same activity in Wikipedia or any other wikiproject (that also is my personal reason for not requesting adminship here). At the time I appreciate Reda's wide community involvement and have good relationship with him myself I think that he is not the "long time project person". We have few mutual activities in Russia and CEE and any time he somehow dissappeared from sight at the very beginning or, at least, after the successfull start of the project. So this request seems more like "a step in his wiki-career" or a momental need than a real will to dedicate himself to the community. Sorry, man. • Pictogram-voting question.svg Question You do not have paroller, rollbacker or license review rights. Why do you think you should become an admin without having worked with these tools before? --GPSLeo (talk) 15:26, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you for your question. If it is important for you, during my three-year tenure as a Sysop on Wiktionary in Shy, I frequently utilized these tools.
And having not previously used specific tools such as patroller, rollbacker, or license reviewer on Commons does not necessarily prevent someone from being a qualified candidate for adminship. Adminship involves a broader set of responsibilities and skills beyond those specific tools, such as understanding Wikimedia policies, understanding copyright law, being able to communicate effectively with other users, and being able to make thoughtful and impartial decisions.
Furthermore, becoming an admin is not just about gaining access to additional tools, but also about taking on additional responsibilities and demonstrating a commitment to the Wikimedia community. If a candidate can demonstrate that they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and commitment to serve as an admin, then they may be a strong candidate for adminship, even if they have not previously used specific tools like patroller, rollbacker... Warm regards Reda Kerbouche (talk) 17:57, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Probably a good candidate, but yes, I have the same suggestion as GPSLeo above: do active license review for a few months, and then come back. We also need people going through pending DRs, and add an opinion there. Yann (talk) 07:21, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sure Yann, I appreciate your feedback. To avoid rushing into a decision, I plan to take my time and revisit this in two months(I changed my mind but not for what o planed) I'll keep the request open in case any other proposals or options come up that could assist me in becoming a Syspo on Commons. Reda Kerbouche (talk) 08:28, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Pictogram-voting question.svg Question You said, that you were 3 years an administrator in shy.wiktionary, but you have still only 193 edits in that project. Do you think, that your experience as temporary administrator there is something worth? Why? Taivo (talk) 09:14, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You are absolutely right regarding my involvement in this project. However, it should be noted that I was responsible for initiating the project from the incubator stage until it became an independent project. Unfortunately, when the project was transferred to a new domain, my contributions were reset to zero. Please review my contributions during the incubator stage where I served as a temporary admin before becoming a temporary admin on Wiktionary. Additionally, it is worth noting that this project has a small number of active users.
Some pages that you can check about the project and me:

  2. the request for new language done by me

  • Pictogram-voting question.svg Question - Can you provide several examples of where you substantively participated in discussions related to complex copyright issues and, if different, examples were you cited case law, statutory law, or other treatise (i.e., not Commons content) to support your positions? Эlcobbola talk 18:16, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • A tough question to answer because I can't say that I have great achievements in this field, but I'll try anyway.
I participated in discussions about the licensing of books on Wikisource in Russian languages with some members on the Russian-speaking VRT. In this version, they required everyone to use CC BY 3.0, but one of the contributors created a document where an author sign to put these books in the public domain with the 4.0 license.
Also, I am working on a project in the United Arab Emirates to submit a proposal for a free panorama to the local parliament. This project is in our plans for the next two years.
A third project that has been partially completed is to establish smart QR codes with links to Wikipedia on the classified buildings in Saint Petersburg, Russia. My team and I had to research many laws that would allow us to place them. In Russia, it is prohibited to touch the facades of these types of buildings.
We were able to find a way to place the QR codes by making contracts with the companies or organizations that work or reside in these buildings. Here is an article to support this: Knowledge will become more accessible thanks to St. Petersburg schoolchildren. Reda Kerbouche (talk) 06:08, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Could you please briefly outline your relation with Wikimedia.ru and why do you think Mr. Medeyko, a highly controversial person in the Wikimedia movement, is promoting you? Have you ever edited against monetary remuneration?--Ymblanter (talk) 09:46, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you for you questions, but I do not know how these questions are related to the role of administrator on commons. anyways I am transparent and this is my answer
My relationship with Wikimedia RU as with any other affiliation, through the conferences and meetings they organized and sharing knowledge. I have participated in two physical conferences they organized, but the biggest thing I did with them was participate in a Wikipedia book for newcomers adapted from the MOOC I create for Arabic Wikipedia. That's why my name appears in the book. I also participated in an editing World Cup editing contest on the Russian language Wikipedia. if this interests you I have relation With French, Canadian, Nigerian, Malian, UAE affiliation too......
I didn't know that Mr. Medeyko would promote me, and I don't think he will. Nothing ties me to Mr. Medeyko except for the times we met twice in Berlin (with several other contributors) and five times in Saint Petersburg because I was in Saint Petersburg that time (during conferences, photographic outings, or meetups).
I have never contributed for money, but I participated in contests organized by affiliations such as Wiki Loves Earth Algeria , where I came in fifth place (After that I was Organizer for Algeria and now For UAE), and a contest organized on the Russian Wikipedia where I translated the articles into French, Arabic, and English. hope I have answered you questions Reda Kerbouche (talk) 14:37, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, thank you for the answers. Ymblanter (talk) 15:35, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
